What are Top Ads? Top Ads are Gumtree Ads which appear in a section at the top of a category's page for several days. More people read and reply to these Ads because of their prominent position on top of category listings over a long time period. While posting Ads on Gumtree is free, making it a Top Ad costs a small fee. . What are the benefits Top Ads? Top Ads get more visitors and more replies than other Ads on Gumtree. This helps you sell an item quicker, get more exposure for your service, and so on. Top Ads also continue to appear within the regular category and search listings after it is no longer in the Top Ads section. Why can't I see my Ad in the Top Ads section? At most 5 Ads will show up in the Top Ads section. If there are more than 5 Ads which were paid to appear as Top Ads in a category, then the extra Top Ads will be hidden for a few minutes. After a few minutes those Ads will then show up with other Ads being hidden. This rotation system is set up to ensure that all Top Ads are exposed to as many Gumtree users as possible. How can I have my Ad appear in the Top Ads section? You can have your Ad shown in the Top Ads section by clicking the "Top Ads" checkbox when you post an Ad on the site. If you have already posted an Ad, you can have it appear in the Top Ads section by first clicking the "Edit Ad" link found in the posting confirmation email (click here to get this email resent to you), and then clicking the "Top Ad" checkbox. Alternatively, you can list your Ad in the "Top Ad" section by clicking the "Promote" link found on the My Ads page in My Gumtree. How much does it cost to buy a Top Ad? While posting Ads on Gumtree is free, Top Ads cost a small fee. Fees vary by category and city and are shown on the Post Ad page. Note: The cost to buy a Top Ad may change at any time. Which categories can I purchase Top Ads in? You can currently purchase a Top Ad in Housing, Stuff for Sale, Jobs, and Services. What payment methods are accepted to pay for a Top Ad? You can pay for a Top Ad using a credit card (MasterCard, Visa or Visa Electron and Amex) or a valid online debit card (NOT an ATM debit card!). All payments are securely processed through our payment partner. Transactions use 128-bit encryption to securely process your transaction and protect your confidential information. We also offer payment via PayPal. PayPal allows you to pay directly with money from your bank account or credit card. PayPal uses the best commercially-available encryption technology to ensure that your financial information is never shared. Note to make a payment via your bank account you must first be registered with PayPal, to do this go to PayPal and click the "Sign Up" link at the top of the page. Can I withdraw a Top Ad and get a refund? In accordance with the terms and conditions of the site, the fees for Top Ads are non-refundable unless the ad was deleted by Gumtree for violating site policies. If you want your Ad to no longer appear in the Top Ads section, simply delete the Ad. Alternatively if the Top Ad is in the wrong category, edit it to move it into the correct category. For how long will my Ad be shown in the Top Ad section? Your Ad will remain in the Top Ad section for the duration selected while buying the Top Ad. If I edit my Ad, will it still appear in the Top Ad section? Your Ad shall remain in the Top Ad section for the duration you have selected as long as it is active. Your Ad will no longer be shown in the Top Ad section only if it expires or is deleted during that time. My Top Ad was deleted. Will my fees be reimbursed? In accordance with the terms and conditions of the site, Top Ad fees are refundable only if the Ad was deleted for violating site policies. Can I make an Ad a Top Ad in more than one category? No. You cannot duplicate ads across categories. Will my Top Ad appear in both the sub-category and the parent category? Yes. Your Top Ad will appear in both the sub-category and the parent category. For example if a Top Ad was bought in the "vans / caravan / rvs / wagons" category, it will also appear in the parent "Cars for Sale" category. What is the difference between Top Ads and Sponsored Links? Top Ads are Gumtree Ads where the posters have paid a fee so that it would be placed in the more prominent Top Ads section for a period of a few days. Sponsored Links are third-party advertisements for other web sites which we obtain automatically from our partners. How can I make an Ad that is already posted on the site a Top Ad? To make an existing Ad a Top Ad, click the "Edit" link found in the email that was sent to you when you posted an Ad (You can click here to get this email resent to you). Then check off the Top Ad option and select a duration. Alternatively you can purchase a Top Ad using the "Promote" link found on the My Ads page in My Gumtree. How many Top Ads are displayed at one time? You may see between 0 and 5 Top Ads at a time.
